The structure
Goals become a path.
Outcome → Path → Tasks → Knowledge. Every goal is broken into a route you can actually walk — not a wall of to-dos with no idea why they exist.
The model
02 / 07
Who it's for
Start from who you are.
18 personas, 360 ready-made outcomes — from couch-to-5K to first startup. Pick the version of you this goal belongs to, and the catalog is already yours.

Describe the goal in your own words. Clio asks what she needs to know, drafts the path, suggests tasks that fit your week, builds lists from one sentence and reads a photographed list back to you.

Tasklists, with brains.

The work
Eight ways to track.
"Did I exercise?" and "how many pages?" aren't the same task. One-off, count, duration, check, avoid, band, trend, cumulative — each charted honestly, none of them with a streak.
Charts, not shame
07 / 07
Outcome first
No more tasks that achieve nothing.
Every task on a path belongs to an outcome. Tick a box, move a goal — and read how far you've come in your own story so far.
The philosophy
The Pathstory Model
One simple idea, four enabling layers.
Most goal apps collapse everything into a wall of tasks. Pathstory separates them — so the meaning lives on top, the route lives below it, the work lives under that, and the knowledge to actually do it sits at the foundation. The whole product hangs on this idea.
🎯
Layer 1 · Outcome
The destination — what you want to become true
The why, the horizon, the meaning. One per goal — never fragmented into more than one. Private by default; share it to a community and others can follow your approach.
🗺️
Layer 2 · Stages (the Path)
The route
An AI-designed sequence of stages toward the outcome. Fully editable. Sequential or parallel. When life changes, the plan bends — replan from today or keep your finish date, and the plan you had is kept.
✓
Layer 3 · Tasks
The work
Eight task shapes — one-off, count, duration, positive check, avoid, band, trend, cumulative — so the system charts your progress honestly without shaming. Mix freely inside each stage.
📖
Layer 4 · Knowledge
The fuel
Curated context that travels with every outcome — 60-second stage briefs (what / why / heads-up / pitfalls) and a hand-picked library of books, podcasts, tools, people, and communities. Your goal sits inside real expertise, not just app screens.
📋
The horizontal sidekick
Tasklists
Reusable lists that cross-cut outcomes. Bucket lists hold things to keep track of — restaurants, books, places, people; Doing lists hold tasks with due dates, reminders, subtasks, and assignees. Group related lists into Themes (Home · Travel · Work) or leave them stand-alone. Attach any list to any outcome. Seed a new list from 60 list ideas — or tap ✨ Build with Clio, describe what you're collecting, and Clio suggests items you keep, drop or refine.
Outcomes · the point of it all
You don't want more tasks done. You want something to become true.
An outcome is one sentence about what you want — "Write the book I've had in my mind for years." Everything in Pathstory exists to make that sentence true.
360

✨
Write your own with Clio
Say it in your own words. Clio asks what "done" means and what's in the way, and drafts the path.
Route
The whole path before day one. Stages, this week's tasks, a 60-second brief for each.
Move
Every tick moves the outcome. "42% of the way" — not "17 tasks done".
Bend
Life changes, the outcome doesn't. Pause it, give a stage more weeks, or replan from today. The plan you had is kept, with Undo.
Read
Your outcome writes its own story. Open "Story so far" and read how far you've come.
💬
The because stays on top
Your why sits at the top of the outcome, above every stage — the sentence the path was planned from.
🧭
On pace, or catching up
The Timeline shows the plan as agreed, where you are and whether the finish has moved. Never a red deadline.
📎
Lists that serve the outcome
Attach a tasklist to an outcome and its tasks sit on Home beside the path.
⏸
Pausing is allowed
Nothing expires, nothing piles up. Come back and the route is where you left it.
🏁
What comes after
A reached outcome is told back as its pathstory — and shared as story cards, if you want.
🔒
Private by default
Turn Share on and its community sees your stages and tasks — never your logs.
Read my pathstory
Your goals, told as a story you'll finish.
When an outcome is reached, Pathstory writes it back to you — chapter by chapter, from your own logs and notes. Nothing invented, nothing scored.
"Twelve weeks, 18 tasks. The plan bent once and you finished anyway."The closing line of a pathstory
Cover
Your why from day one, the route you took and the dates it ran.
Chapters
A chapter a stage, with its week grid — done, partly, lighter, rest. Never red.
Moments
The first time you hit a target, with the note you logged that day.
Ending
The final log and four numbers — the last of them "0 streaks", on purpose.
Clio
One note, the only part she writes: what you did, and the outcome she'd suggest next.
Five story cards — the cover, your why, a moment, the week that bent, the finish — to share as images, if you want to. Still under way? Read your story so far: the chapters begun, the rest still to be written.
Clio · Pathstory's AI
Not a chatbot. A goals agent that thinks in your direction.
Clio doesn't wait for prompts. She shapes the outcome with you, designs the path, builds your lists, reads your paper lists — and when your outcome is reached, writes the one note at the end of its story. Everything she makes is editable, and every Clio action shows its credit cost before it runs (see Pricing).
✨ Shape an outcome with Clio
It asks, you answer, it designs.
Instead of a blank form, Clio runs a short, intelligent conversation — then synthesizes an outcome, a sequence of stages, the right task shapes and a starter knowledge library. Every piece is yours to keep, edit or throw away.
✨ Clio
What does "knowing French literature" look like for you — reading the classics, reading them in French, or writing about them?
Reading the big novels, and one day in French. I loved them in my twenties.
✨ Clio
Then let's make it "Become deeply knowledgeable about French literature," over 12 months in four stages: foundation reading, a deep dive into Proust, reading in the original French, then discussing and writing. Twenty pages a day to start. Want a first pick for your reading list?
🧭
Shape the outcome
Say the goal in your own words. Clio asks what she needs — your time, where you start, what stopped you before — and gives the outcome a short name, with the why kept on top.
🗺️
Design the path
Sequential or parallel stages, tasks in the right shapes, a 60-second brief per stage. The whole route before day one.
✅
Fill a stage of your own
Add a stage and Clio writes its first two or three tasks, in the shapes that chart them honestly.
📋
Build a list in one sentence
"Books on Stoicism." "Everything for a week in Crete with kids." Clio asks what matters, then suggests ten at a time; you keep what you like, then Get 10 more.
📷
Scan a list
Photograph a paper list — the fridge note, the recipe, your own handwriting. Clio reads it into a clean list, grouped by aisle, crossed-out lines marked done.
➕
Suggest more, in any list
Open a list and tap Suggest more: Clio reads what's already on it, offers a few directions and never suggests what's there.
📚
Library suggestions
Fresh picks for the outcome you're on — books, podcasts, tools, people — beside the curated library.
📖
A note at the end of your story
When an outcome is reached, Clio writes one note at the end of its pathstory — and names the outcome she'd suggest next.
🔎
Clio noticed
Once a week she may spot something worth knowing — "7 to 9 pm is your hour." Never a fall, never a nag.
Tasklists · the horizontal sidekick
Lists that serve a goal — or just get the groceries done.
Not everything is an outcome. Tasklists are the everyday layer: reusable, shareable, built in a sentence or scanned from paper — and, when you want, attached to an outcome so their tasks sit on Home next to your path.
Doing list
Things to finish
Tasks with due dates, reminders, subtasks and an owner. Packing, a weekly reset, the renovation, Saturday chores. Repeating lists reset on schedule; assign a task on a shared list to whoever's doing it.

Build with Clio
Tell Clio what the list is for — "books on Stoicism", "a 4-day Lisbon trip with a toddler" — and it fills in as she writes, with a book's cover or a place's photo where one exists. Keep what fits, Get 10 more, done.
📷
Scan a listNew
Point the camera at a paper list — even handwriting — and Clio reads every line into a Doing list, grouped by aisle, with what was crossed out marked done. Included with Base and Premium.
🤝
Share it — equal, quiet, free
Invite by link or email. Everyone on the list adds and ticks off, and what someone else added is marked with their name until you've seen it. Sharing is free forever.
🛒
Shop mode
Open a shopping list in Shop mode: items by aisle, a tap into the trolley, a swipe for not found — it comes back on the next trip. The screen stays awake while you shop.
🎯
Attach to an outcome
A list can serve a goal. Attach "Half-marathon kit" to Run a half marathon and its tasks sit on Home beside your path — one place, every step.

For who you actually are
18 personas. Find yourself in one — or several.
Pathstory doesn't sort people by demographics. It sorts by the kind of life outcome they pursue. Most people see themselves in two or three — tap any persona to see what's inside.
Eight ways to track
8 shapes of tasks — because not all tasks are the same.
Most apps give you one checkbox for everything. Pathstory has eight task shapes, each charted the way it actually behaves — so progress is honest, and an off day is a quieter chart, never a red one. Tap a shape to see how it's tracked.
Every chart is drawn from the very entries you logged — tap a bar and the logs behind it are listed underneath. Only ever you, compared to you.
Notifications that pull, never nag
Every nudge says what moved. Never what you missed.
Pathstory's notifications are news from your path — written to make you curious about the next step, not anxious about the last one.

What we refuse to do
No streaks. No leaderboards. No shame.

Questions
Frequently asked
Pricing
What are credits?
Credits are how Clio's AI generation is metered. One balance covers everything Clio creates for you: a new outcome path costs 25, a replan or extension 10, a tasklist via Build with Clio 5, Read my pathstory 3, Library suggestions 2. Scan & Tidy is free on paid plans. Base includes 100 credits a month, Premium 250. You always see the cost before you confirm.
What happens if I run out?
Everything you've already built keeps working — tracking, tasks, sharing, insights. Clio simply won't generate anything new until your monthly credits reset or you buy a pack (100 for €2.99, 300 for €6.99, 1,000 for €19.99). Pack credits are used after your monthly ones and never expire.
Do credits roll over?
Monthly credits don't roll over — they reset at the start of each billing month. Pack credits never expire and are only spent once your monthly credits are gone, so a pack you buy today is still there in six months.
How does the free trial work?
Base and Premium both start with a 7-day free trial that includes 50 Clio credits — enough for a full new outcome plus a replan and a few list builds. When the trial ends you're charged for the plan you chose and your full monthly credits (100 on Base, 250 on Premium) are added. Cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends and you pay nothing. One trial per Apple ID.
Can I cancel?
Yes, any time, from your Apple ID subscription settings. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for, and you keep whatever pack credits you bought. There's no cancellation fee and no questions asked.
About Pathstory
When can I use it?
Pathstory is in beta on iPhone and lands on the App Store soon. Join the waitlist and your download link arrives in your inbox on launch day, before it goes anywhere else.
Which devices does it run on?
iPhone and iPad first. Apple Watch is in design, and Android comes later.
Will it ever use streaks?
No. A missed day makes a chart quieter, never redder, and nothing you do resets to zero. The pathstory you read at the end even counts them: 0 streaks, on purpose.
What does Clio see, and is my data used for training?
Clio reads only what the action in front of her needs. Nothing you log is used to train anyone's model, and Pathstory never sells your data.
Stop reacting.Start writing your pathstory.
Pathstory is landing on the App Store soon. Join the waitlist and you go in first — and until launch we send you the method, not marketing: one short message at a time, so day one in the app feels like day thirty.
